Opening and accessing your accounts

Find out below how you can go about opening a Nurses First account and the many different ways you can access your accounts and reduce banking fees.

What can I do here?

Find out more about:

Opening an Account

To open an account simply phone us on 13 25 77 or visit our branch at 550 Swanston Street, Carlton. You can also see one of our Mobile Consultants who will visit your workplace. To arrange an appointment call 13 25 77.

Before opening an account you will need to fulfil a 100 point identification check, which involves showing us identification such as your passport, or birth certificate and drivers licence.

Fee Free banking

Nurses First provides more than just savings accounts. We offer a more efficient way of banking, free from the worry of fees.

Nurses First's unique savings accounts allow you to bank completely free of fees, provided that you direct at least $300 per fortnight of your pay to your Nurses First account.

That means you can make as many ATM, EFTPOS, VISA, BPAY, Bank@POST, Phonelink, Netlink and Direct Debit transactions as you like, fee free! Find out more about our fee free banking options.

Accessing Your Accounts

It's easy to access and manage your accounts 24 hours a day with Nurses First. We provide you with a range of electronic-based solutions that are easy to use to bring you convenient, fee-free banking.

If you can see the benefits of telephone or online banking but are unsure about exploring this new technology alone, we can help. Our Member Services Consultants will take the time to talk you through how it all works. Simply call 13 25 77.

Find out more about the ways you can access and operate your accounts with the following information:

Deposit payroll

By directing a minimum of $300 per fortnight of your pay to your Nurses First account, we will reward you with fee free transactional banking - no matter where you withdraw your money.

Once you have spoken with a Member Service Consultant to set up your Nurses First savings account, give your employer the following information and ask them to transfer your pay directly into this account:

  • BSB number:  806-015
  • Account name:  refer to your card
  • Account number:  refer to your card

Make purchases

When you join we give you a Nurses First Redicard or VISA Card. You can use your Redicard wherever EFTPOS is accepted, and your VISA Card at any EFTPOS or VISA outlet. Nurses First Cards are widely accepted around the world.

Withdraw cash

Choose from three convenient options.

1. Withdraw cash from any ATM. (Nurses First offers members access to any ATM, from any financial institution in Victoria. If you direct at least $300 of your payroll to your Nurses First account each fortnight, you can have unlimited free access to the entire ATM network).

2. Pay for goods and withdraw cash from any EFTPOS outlet in the world.

3. Withdraw cash from over 2900 Bank@POST outlets Australia wide.

If you need assistance with these options, talk with one of our Member Services Consultants on 13 25 77 or visit our branch.

Deposit cheques and cash

To enable us to provide you with fee-free banking, cash and cheque deposits will not be accepted at our branch. Instead, we provide you with convenient alternatives.

Nurses First has teamed up with Australia Post to bring you Bank@POST. Bank@POST is as convenient as your local Post Office, and you can deposit cash and cheques at over 2,900 Australia Post outlets across Australia.

View your nearest Bank@POST location.

Direct payments to your account from major institutions

With a direct credit to your Nurses First account, you can give authority to major institutions to make payments directly to your account. A direct credit is a fast and safe method of receiving deposits or refunds. For example, you can have a health insurance benefit, or your annual tax return paid directly into your account, rather than depositing money to your account by cheque.

To organise your direct credit, contact the company you deal with and ask them to arrange the payment. You will need to supply the following details about your account:

  • BSB number:  806-015
  • Account name:  refer to your card
  • Account number:  refer to your card

Pay bills

It's easy and FREE to pay bills with BPAY. Once you've registered for Phonelink phone banking or Netlink online banking, you can pay bills by telephone or online to over 3,000 organisations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Or, with Phonelink call 13 25 77 and follow the prompts. Have your bill, account details and a pen ready before you call.

If you need assistance with these options, speak with one of our Member Services Consultants on 13 25 77 or visit our branch.
